Periodization

Periodization on three levels: season, phase and week

In the macrocycle you lay out the season: phases with their phase type, the planned weekly volume in hours and the planned intensity in percent as a curve. Competitions and tests appear as points in the calendar, and main competitions carry a star. The mesocycle represents one phase, the microcycle a single training week.

Every level has its own objectives and strategic notes. You pick a focus such as hypertrophy from a catalog as a template for building programs. Objectives are free or measurable: exercise, parameter and target value with the condition at least, at most or exactly. When a completed program, a test or a competition meets a measurable objective, Tletify detects it and notifies athlete and coaches.

Before an important competition, the macrocycle shows a countdown. On request, Tletify proposes a competition preparation that lowers weekly volume step by step over several weeks at unchanged intensity, starting from the average volume of the previous four weeks. You see a preview before you apply it.

  • Save whole macrocycles as templates and reuse them
  • Objectives that last or apply only to their level

Programs and sets

Programs with planned and actual values for every set

A program is built from sections, exercises and sets. Each section is a block: standard, superset, circuit, interval, EMOM or AMRAP, with rounds, work and rest times or the EMOM interval depending on the type. Every exercise comes with the right fields, drawn from a catalog of about 40 parameters such as reps, load, %1RM, tempo, RPE, RIR, distance or heart rate.

Every set has two values: planned and actual. Your prescription stays as it is, while the athlete logs what they actually did and marks the set as done, failed or assisted, for example. If they change a value, the program's history shows the old value next to the new one.

The editor converts %1RM prescriptions into kg. Apply a methodology to fill in sets, reps and rest in one step and get matching suggestions from the exercise library. In workout mode, the athlete sees one set per screen with the planned values already in the field.

  • Block templates such as EMOM 10' or Tabata 8×20/10, plus your own
  • Single dates or repeats by weekday, interval and period
  • Rest countdown and the last result for the same exercise
  • Feedback on intensity and satisfaction after the session

Microcycle and athletes

Plan the training week for one athlete or many

The microcycle is a weekly calendar with sessions, competitions, tests, training camps, appointments, absences and travel days. On the computer, you drag sessions to move them and change their length. Tletify rejects overlapping sessions for the same athlete. Below the calendar you find methodologies and drafts that you drag straight into the week.

Send one program to up to 20 athletes, or pick a whole group right in the selection window. It stays the same for everyone, or individual athletes get their own values, date or location. Week copy transfers an entire week, even into another athlete's calendar, with optional progression: load plus kg or percent, or based on the completed sets.

  • All-day bar for camps plus competitions and tests without a set time
  • Week copy with programs, tests, objectives and the week's note
  • Drafts with categories, ready to drag into the calendar
  • With Pro you see every session you are involved in

Computer, app and export

Training planning software on the computer and in the app

Most planning happens on the computer, in the browser. The app for iPhone and Android uses the same account: there you create programs in three steps, send them to athletes and add phases and objectives to the macrocycle. Athletes train in the app's workout mode, which keeps running offline as long as the program was opened online once.

Export macro-, meso- and microcycles and every program as PDF and CSV; the CSV opens in Excel. Add programs, competitions, tests, training camps and absences to Google, Apple or Outlook as a calendar subscription. Planning for other athletes requires Pro or Team; see features and prices.

  • Export as PDF and CSV, ready for Excel

Questions and answers

What is the difference between macro-, meso- and microcycles?

The macrocycle covers the season or year with its phases. The mesocycle is one of those phases, the microcycle a single training week. In Tletify the levels are linked: objectives and strategic notes from all three levels appear in the week, below the calendar. Read more in our guide to training periodization.

Can I send one program to several athletes?

Yes, with Pro or Team. A program can go to up to 20 athletes, including a whole group. You decide whether it stays the same for everyone or whether individual athletes get their own values, date or location. Each athlete logs their own actual values.

Which formats can I export training plans in?

Programs as well as macro-, meso- and microcycles export as PDF and CSV. The CSV file opens in Excel or any other spreadsheet app; Tletify does not create .xlsx files. If you plan in spreadsheets today, compare the options in training planning without Excel.

When can I start using Tletify?
