Competition planning in the macrocycle and the weekly calendar

Every competition you create appears in the macrocycle as a point on the calendar, and main competitions carry a star. That way you see the highlights of the season right next to the phases, the planned weekly volume and the intensity. A countdown shows how many days are left until the next important competition.

In the microcycle, the weekly calendar, competitions without a set time appear in the all-day bar along with training camps and all-day absences. You can also add travel days for the outbound and return trip; they don't block any planning and don't count toward any metric. With the calendar feed, your competitions also show up in Google, Apple or Outlook calendars.

Participants and disciplines

Disciplines per athlete, results and placements

You create a competition once and edit it for all participants together or for each athlete. Every athlete can compete in several disciplines, such as the 100 m and the long jump at the same meet, and gets a separate result for each. For teams, you choose one shared result for the whole team instead.

Tletify suggests the result type that fits the sport, such as time, distance, weight, points, repetitions or a match result with win, draw or loss. Add the placement if you like; units are converted automatically. As soon as all results are in, the competition counts as completed.

In the app for iPhone and Android, you can also create competitions with all participants and their disciplines and enter the result and placement right at the venue. Without a connection, the app saves your entries and sends them once it is back online. If a result meets a measurable objective from the cycle, Tletify recognizes it and notifies the athlete and coach.

Tapering

Competition preparation: reduce volume before the main event

Before an important competition, the “Create competition preparation” function in the macrocycle helps you taper. Tletify proposes reducing weekly volume in stages over several weeks while intensity stays the same. The baseline is the average volume of the four preceding weeks.

You see the proposal as a preview first and apply it only when it fits your plan. Only someone allowed to edit the macrocycle can apply it. How to spread phases and peaks across the year is covered in our guide to training periodization.

Analysis

After the competition: analyze the preparation and the season

With Pro, the Analysis page shows how the last 14 days before a competition went and how weekly load developed over the whole season, with every competition marked. That lets you put preparation and result side by side. How weekly load is calculated is explained on the training load management page.

On the group page, competitions have their own tab next to members, training plans and tests. If a participant is currently injured, the competition page shows it on a separate card. For every competition you can also open a linked conversation, so questions and arrangements stay where they belong.

Questions and answers

Can one athlete compete in several disciplines at the same competition?

Yes. You assign each participant their disciplines, for example the 100 m and the long jump at the same meet. You enter a separate result for each discipline, with placement if you like. For teams, you choose one shared result instead.

Do I need a Pro subscription for competition planning?

For your own competitions, Basic is enough: you plan them in your own calendar and enter your results. Assigning competitions to other athletes and the analysis on the Analysis page are part of Pro and Team. You can find all the differences under features and prices.

Can I see competitions in my phone calendar?

Yes, with the calendar feed. Tletify gives you an iCal address that you subscribe to in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. It contains your programs, competitions, tests, training camps and absences, so your season sits right next to all your other appointments.
